Enhanced Clone Job / Quote Feature - designed to save you time.

This feature allows you to determine what information is copied across or inserted by default on cloned jobs or quotes.

Running a busy service business often means creating the same or similar jobs and quotes, again and again. Re-entering the same information wastes valuable time and increases the risk of mistakes. This is where Job Tracker Professional can help. You can clone a job or quote at the touch of a button and also create rules so that the system automatically know which areas of information to copy to the new record. This works whether you are using the new versions of the quotes and jobs screens or the legacy versions.

The module allows you to clone an existing job or quote and define which data to copy, or not copy, giving you control over exactly what information is carried forward into the new record. You can even programe some basic rules for default data to be inserted into fields such as todays date or a specific job status etc.

For example, you can set the cloned job to:
clear selected fields
set the job status on the new job as desired
insert a default value into chosen fields
populate date fields with today’s date or a future date
copy across the files stored on the original job
keep the job spec the same but clear the job notes

This feature means far less manual editing after creating the cloned record, and a faster, more reliable workflow for your team.

How to Set Up Clone Rules for Jobs and Quotes

From the home page of Job Tracker Professional, on the menu at the top of the screen click Setup and then select Job/Quote Clone Rules.

In the screen that opens, go to the section on the right of the screen labelled Clone Job Rules.
Here you can enter the field code for the field you want to control, followed by the value you want applied.

For example:

JOBSTATUS=New Job
This will automatically set the Job Status in the cloned job to New Job.
If you are updating a picklist field or Job Status, make sure the value is entered exactly as it appears in your system. This helps maintain accuracy in reports, filters, and any other automations you already use.

If you want to clear a field, use:
FIELDNAME=BLANK entering the relevant fieldname which you can find here
If you want to set a field to a specific value, type the value after the equals sign.

Date fields can also be updated using simple rules:
=DATE, this inserts today’s date
=DATE+7, this inserts the date one week from today
